What is Pilates?
Pilates is a method of strengthening the deep muscles of the abdominal muscles but also of the back, legs and arms. It is a gentle and impact-free method, therefore accessible to everyone. By prioritizing the precision of movements and work on breathing, Pilates offers everyone:
- strengthening of deep muscles
- better body posture
- greater flexibility
- more balance and coordination
- a reduction in stress
All this in the service of better self-confidence!
What are the key elements of Pilates?
Focus on Breathing : Breathing is a key element in Pilates. We breathe deeply and in a controlled manner, coordinating our breathing with our movements.
Centering : This practice focuses on the body's "center of power", the area that encompasses the abdominals, glutes, lower back and hips. Exercises are often focused on strengthening this area.
Control : Every movement in Pilates must be performed with total body control. This helps strengthen muscles and prevent injury.
Smooth movements : Pilates movements are fluid and elegant. The aim is to create harmony between movement and breathing.
Note: Each posture and movement must be done with precision to maximize the effectiveness of the exercise.
Concentration: Concentration is essential in Pilates. We focus on the body, breathing and movement for a deeper, more effective experience.
Pilates sessions can be performed on a mat with accessories such as balls, resistance bands or Pilates circles, or on special machines such as the Reformer, Cadillac or Wunda Chair. Exercises vary in difficulty and can be adapted according to each person's fitness level and specific needs.
Pilates is suitable for almost everyone, from beginners to advanced athletes, and is particularly popular for improving posture, flexibility and overall back health.
